Real name system

Before this presentation, I just thought vaguely of the Internet real-name system. I have been thought that establishing internet real-name system is the ideal plan. Some people believe that internet is good medium for guaranteeing anonymity. And this anonymity can be wrongfully used by these people. For example, they start to internet bullying and post malicious comments to internet articles. For these reasons, I always thought that implementing the real name system means we can curb mean and insensitive messages on the message board.

But, presenter gives us the chart, which is about internet real name system is effective or not. And I was totally shocked by the result of chart. This chart said that, the internet real name system doesn’t work on internet bullying. In other words, before and after the internet real-name system established, there is no difference between before and after. And I realized that internet real-name system is not perfect and ideal system. It has some flaws, too.

So, what is the better way to reduce the internet bullying and build a desirable internet environment? In my opinion, by making the internet real name system mandatory, most people will have to think twice before writing something hurtful. Also, although the internet real name system doesn’t work on internet bullying, it is very useful to identify people who post abusive comments or spread false rumors on the internet. And I think that we need strong laws about abusive postings to solve this problem. This law will make people more responsible.

Social Commerce

Today, I and my partner present about ‘Social Commerce’. We choose this topic, because Social Commerce is becoming more and more popular these days. In my case, I usually buy the social commerce discount coupon for eating out, buying concert ticket and going to the hair salon. I can receive good services at absolutely cheap price. Also, I can easily see that my friends who usually buy the discount coupon with many purposes, too. Last summer break, I go to the Kangnam station every day, because my English academy is located in Kangnam station. And I often buy the discount coupons for eating something. I can eat a wide range of food at a low price and receive satisfaction, too. I never had been discriminated because of coupons. Social commerce site and sellers usually leave a good impression to me.

However, when I researched the social commerce, I was immensely shocked. Most surprisingly, the famous major social commerce sites, such as ‘Coupang’, ‘Ticket Monster’ and ‘We make price’ sell fake products to their customers. As I said, ‘We make price’ sold the fake cosmetics and sneakers. Also, ‘Coupang’ sold the fake winterbreak and boots. These are face of the social commerce sites in Korea, so I was very upset about this matter. To me, credibility of social commerce sites is at rock bottom.

Therefore, social commerce sites must make good a deficiency. Of course, they should choose their partner strictly. They don’t have to repeat the same mistakes to their customers. Social commerce sites should set standards for their partner stores to follow, and make sure that their partner stores follow these rules.

About power blogger

I am one of people who often visit the blog to get useful information. And I usually visit power blogger’s blog, which is very famous for cosmetics, electronics and read their opinions. Even though they are not an expert of this filed, I believe that they will write the objective reviews for visitors. Before buying the products (cosmetics or electronics I mentioned), I usually refer to their opinions and buy it. Also, when I have to do homework, I can get useful things from the blog, too. So, I think that blog is very useful tool in many ways.

However, presenters said that they usually fabricate their comments for commercial purpose. It means, power bloggers usually write the favorable comment intentionally. Also, a power blogger who is famous for electronics wrote the unfavorable opinions about SAMSUNG product. Then, SAMSUNG command that “Delete your unflattering comments”. And few days later, this comment was deleted. So, power bloggers rarely write the review which has the negative opinions about the products.

Until now, I have believed that power bloggers are innocent people who want to share and exchange opinions about interest or special field. However, because of this presentation, I started to doubt power blogger’s favorable opinions of the products. I realized that some bloggers are people who forge a comment and want to make profit from readers. Blog was the personal space for sharing feelings, but some blogs changed into the commercial space. Therefore, I should not believe everything what they said. I have to distinguish between right and wrong from these opinions.

Credit Loan Service

          Today, we discussed credit loan service. We talked about the loan of private lending market, commercial bank and saving bank. According to the National Statistical Office, the average amount of debts is 52,000,000 won. It is increasing and increasing every year. Also, 30% citizens answered that they can’t repay their debt within a redemption period of time. In Korean society, loan service is the big problem to many nation people.

          Most of all, the loan from private lending market is the most serious problem. Taking out a private loan is quite a simple procedure. It is much easier than other loan services from the bank. We know that predatory lending at high rates to people who is in urgent need of money. Also, most of the people who use this private service are very poor. Because of these people’s credit rating, they can’t borrow money from a bank. So they choose this service, buy many of them lastly go through a bankruptcy process. In other words, current credit ranking system is too strict. It is kind of hard and fast rules. A lot of people are compelled to choose the private loan service.

          Therefore, we should solve this matter stage by stage. We need a change for citizen’s better life. The banks simplify loan procedures and allow many more people the chance of borrowing money. Government should support the bank’s system and give various loan benefits. Also, government has to the matter of private loan. They should keep a close eye on the activities of illegal private loan service.

Wedding custom in Korea

Marriage is a huge event for Koreans. But, people dream fancy and glamorous wedding ceremony. So people spend a huge amount of money to prepare this wedding ceremony. Also, they have to seek new house, furniture and etc. So usually they get a burdensome debt to cover this cost. Because of these reasons, the culture of celebrating wedding changed to commercial event in Korea. And I think that this is a problem. The bride and groom pay good money for wedding, and they seek a reward from their guests.

And I believe that marriage’s essential factor is ‘love’, of course. However, Match-marketing service is always increasing and increasing. And users of this service are increasing, too. People seek their spouse using this service. But is it desirable? I don’t think so. In this site, they score client’s spouse grade, such as appearance, earning power, background, etc. And people just seek their partners who have a similar background and salary. In match marketing service, they turn their clients into products. But, we are not a thing, we are human.

To sum up, I don’t want to say that Korean wedding custom is totally wrong. But, the basic factor of marriage has to be ‘love’, not a background or money. And I can understand that people dream fancy wedding ceremony, but they have to find nice wedding ceremony that they can afford. I don’t think that people burden with a heavy debt for preparing marriage. They should fit their wedding plans to suit themselves.

English education in Korea

When I prepared English education presentation, I learned many things from this. Although my major is English, I don’t know a lot of issues about English education before this presentation. It was a chance for me to think this matter carefully. English is always never-ending cycle in Korea. English is not our mother tongue, but the essence of student’s skill is English. Every student, even the kindergarten student is crazy about learning English in Korea. Some people called this situation, ‘English fever in South Korea’.

           I was really shocked about 98% middle schools divide classes by student’s English level. When I was a middle and high school student, I always take English class with my classmates. Our schools are never grouped students by our English level. So I have no experience about putting students in different English classes. Some people insist that this way is not particularly good for students. They say that low-level students will feel a sense of incompatibility and also the atmosphere in this class will be bad. In my book, I think that this way will be more effective. Every student’s English proficiency is totally different. In other words, it is very difficult to teach different levels of students by the one teacher.

           Because of the current president, English education will be changed to ‘NEAT’ from KSAT. And this is the hot debate in Korea until now. NEAT is quite different from KSAT. So, many students and parents start to confuse about variation of English education environment. And I think that this is quite a sudden change. The new English education should be phased in the long-term and do not confuse students.

           In conclusion, we should think this matter deeply and put various reports together about English education. President does not operate English education under his own power. It is the sensitive matter for many students, teachers and parents. We have to find the best way of English education step by step.

Street vendors

     In Korea, the forced closing of all street vendors is still a contentious issue. I wasn’t interested in this issue because I thought that it did not have anything to do with me. However, while listening for this presentation, I came to realize that this is a kind of an important matter which affects me as a Korean consumer. Also, I am one of those people who often eats food from street vendors. As you know, the former mayor of Seoul, Oh Se-Hoon was a strong advocate of eliminating street venders. He thought that these shops ruined the appearance of the street, so getting rid of street vendors and beautifying the streets was the face of his campaign. So he ordered that all street vendors be shut down, by force if necessary. As a result the street vendors were all forced to close, but they demonstrated against his action.

     Some people insist that we can’t trust the sanitary conditions of these shops. They also insist taxes. However I believe it was wrong to close the street vendors down by force. These shops are a sole source of income for some people. Many people who run street vendors have no other means of support. It is part of Korean culture, too.

     Therefore, we should try to strike a happy medium between the needs of the street vendors and their opponents. One solution is that the government should make some kind of arrangement with the street vendors. For instance, the government would make street vendors legal again, cover their start up expenses, and in turn, the street vendors would pay taxes.

Hybrid cars going to be famous in the world.

In class, I heard about ‘hybrid cars’. I didn’t know anything about this car. This presentation was sensational and interesting to me. Many car companies have been trying to make this car and improve the performance of hybrid car. And drivers of hybrid car are increasing globally. Hybrid cars are innovative alternative of regular car. In reality, many people worried about high price oil and environment pollution. But hybrid car is eco-friendly and uses economical fuel. Therefore, we can save money for using better fuel, reduce pollution, and make the maintaining cost cheaper.

However, this great technology, hybrid cars have weaknesses, too. It doesn’t have enough power to speed up. Hybrid car’s battery life is too short to drive long way. The car’s weight is so light which threaten the safety. It can be blown by hitting another car. And the price of hybrid car is much expensive than regular one. In Korea, Hyundai and Kia produce hybrid car and tries to develop this technology. These companies contribute to the advancement of this technology and commercialization. Also, Hyundai offers a future plan which is ‘Hyundai Blue’ for improving the hybrid car. They try to make hybrid car popular.

Therefore, this technology would be perfect in the future. It will strengthen the strength and make up for the weakness. I am sure that the hybrid car’s technology will growing up rapidly and successfully deployed on a commercial scale.
